Once my Economics teacher told me that the first step towards the success is when you get an interview call. It means that your qualification, your professional experience (if you have it) or whatever you have mentioned in your resume meet the requirement of that particular job that you had applied for. The second step is the interview presentation. And it is the most important step to be considered because it is your staircase towards the successful career. I accept that we all make few silly mistakes during our interviews. Especially when it is our first one! But we should learn from our mistakes so that we may perform better in the next one and get ahead of it. Therefore, I came up with some of the errors or blunders that we all usually do and what important things that we leave behind in the excitement of an interview.
Things to do: · As soon as you get a call, get all your educational documents, professional experiences and resume in order. So that you do not miss anything. · Gather some information about the company you’re going for the interview to. · Go through the job description for the position that you applied for. · Go for the light color dresses/shirts. Be formal. Because it really does leave a good impression on employers. · Most importantly, know your venue and the timings for the interview. · Arrive 10-15 minutes early for the interview so that you may get some time to freshen up. · Keep an eye contact with the employer during the interview. It will show your confidence level. · Most importantly, be yourself and be honest with whatever you tell about yourself and about your professional background. · If you and your employer are male, then greet with a firm handshake. And if you’re a female and your employer is also a female then greet with a smile. · Be confident, clear and precise. · Show interest and asked questions wherever you feel the need to; regarding the job or the company that you could not find in the company profile. But be sensible. · Sit firmly but calmly. · Lastly, when leaving; leave graciously. Things not to do: · Don’t expect that the employer has gone through your resume and knows about you. You have to be prepared to tell him about yourself; who you are and why you're here. · Do not brag about yourself. · The crucial thing; don’t bad-mouth or criticize your ex-employer. · Don’t show desperation for the job. Keep a difference between “being interested” and “being desperate”. · Don’t forget to switch your cell phone on the silent mode. · Do not talk about the salary yourself. Let the ball be in the employer’s court. · Don’t let any frustration or negative expression destroy your gentleness and alacrity on your face. · Do not take your spouse or friend or family along with you at the venue. Show that you’re an independent person and can take your decisions in the best of your own interest. I hope these tips will probably help you to prosper in your interview. Wish you good luck for the interview!
